Congratulations to PMYC Hobie sailor competing on the world stage -
Hobie 16 European Championships
Local Port Melbourne Yacht Club sailor Georgia Warren-Myers has once again demonstrated her ability to compete at the international level by recently finishing 2nd at the 2012 Hobie 16 European championships in France out of 120 Hobie 16 teams. There were 12 races held over 4 days in steady 15 to 20 knots and choppy water. At the end of day 1 and day 3 Georgia and her skipper Chris Hancock (from Perth) lead the championship, only to be knocked off the top spot on the final day by French sailors Cedric and Laurent Bader, former 2005 European champions.

After the Europeans, Georgia and Chris represented Australia at the World cat regatta on the island of Sylt in northern Germany. The annual event is invitation only and selects 11 of the best Hobie 16 sailing teams from around the world, including past national champions, world champions, and European champions. With shifting breezes ranging from 15 to 23 knots and flat water there was fierce competition amongst the teams with the racing being so close that the first 4 to 5 boats would cross the finish line in some races within seconds of each other. Georgia and Chris represented Australia and finish in 5th place overall, in front of the American sailor Andy Dinsdale who holds the 2012 Australian national title (finished 6th), and 3 times Hobie 16 World Champion from South Africa Shaun Ferry (finished 7th) Congratulations to Georgia and Chris

Message from the President
It's the time of year again when we as members of the Pacific Rim Real Estate Society begin to anticipate and look forward to our next annual meeting. The 2013 PRRES conference in Melbourne promises to be outstanding and thanks to RMIT and all the Melbourne team for their efforts and hard work in organising the event. Speaking personally, at UniSA the annual PRRES meeting has always been very important in getting us to work together as a group. It has got us organized, forced us to be productive and helped to set our research agenda for the year. I'm sure I speak for many of my colleagues throughout the Pacific Rim when I say that we owe a great deal to the annual PRRES Society meeting in terms of our progress as researchers and academics. And I would suggest that such academic meetings are even more important in the current academic environment of budget constraints, increased competition for funding and greater expectations of authentic and measurable research outputs. Now more than ever it is important for us to meet as an academic community. So I strongly encourage all members and associated colleagues to register for what will undoubtedly be a most friendly, rigorous, entertaining and high quality 2013 conference.
2012 PRRES Case Competition
Six universities participated the 2012 PRRES Case Competition: The University of Auckland, The University of Southern California, The University of South Australia, Curtin University, The University of Sunshine Coast and Bond University. After a hard working preliminary, all participants have been invited to eat and greet at Pizza restaurant in Adelaide city. The students shared their experiences on the long table. However, the two finalist team had to compete again on the second day of the competition. The University of Southern California have met the four consecutive finalist from 2009 to 2012. In 2012, we have the third year of re-matched between Auckland and California. And the winner was the University of Auckland team.
Finally, I want to send my gratitude to all people who support and contribute to the success of 2012 PRRES Case Competition: PPRES board and PRRES members who sponsored the event, coaches, participants, judges and organising committee from The University of South Australia.
Inaugural International Feasibility competition 2013
Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES) together with Estate Master Property Software (Estate Master) have announced a new format of Property undergraduate competition in 2013. The competition consist of three stages. The International Feasibility competition gives students a chance to demonstrate their skills in property and feasibility analysis through creating a 'Mock Project'. As part of the competition, teams have been provided with project brief, key assumption, site location, basic planning and market information. It will be up to teams to create the mock development project and present their feasibility, assumptions and recommendations in report for selection to the short list. The more details financial feasibility analysis will be the focus of second stage of the competition. These exercises will offer opportunities to improve analytical, team-work, communication and presentation skills. The students also use Estate Master DF software to conduct initial and detailed financial feasibility analysis. Finally, two finalist teams will be invited to present their project and marketing material to the judging panel and also to the conference delegates.
For this competition each team should comprise four undergraduate students enrolled full time or part time. At least three of these students should be enrolled in a property related degree programme. Each university can only send one team of four undergraduate students. The team will be coordinated by a lecturer from the participating university.
